Performance at the Jazz Uncovered weekend is by invitation, but we are open to offers. Contact the Committee if you wish to be considered for the program.
We are seeking a broad range of inventive modern jazz in varied formats, large or small ensembles, even solo artists if you have something special to offer. We are hoping for original compositions, special performances like replaying renowned albums, retrospectives of famous performers, cross-genre styles like NuJazz, jazz-poetry, breakbeats. We have a definite preference for original compositions, so get your pencils and manuscript paper to work and get in touch.
The Folkus Room has recently moved to the Italo-Australian CLub in Forrest, and we have moved with them. The date has also changed to Sunday 5 April due to a clash with a visiting US blues performer at the Folkus.
Jazz Uncovered will run on four (yes, 4) stages from 10am to 11pm. Sets are 60mins. There's a 30min break between each set. Sets are staggered between the stages. All stages will have an MC, a decent PA and a sound engineer, although some stages may just provide smaller, vocal PAs. Food and drinks are available and there's parking just outside the door. Mostly you should bring your own gear. Advise us if you have a problem with this. DIs would be appreciated if you've got them.
ArtSound will be recording and broadcasting occasional sets. We hope to produce a CD of selections from the day. Active Clear Sound (Kev Austin) will be able to offer multitracking and full CD recording from the Mingus stage. If you're interested, contact Kev driectly.
Feel free to promote your CDs. We welcome it. We'll also have a table for CD sales, so talk to us if you have CDs to sell.
